Cliff Newell has retired after 39 years in the newspaper business, and now he has brought his aging self to write for the new ACC blog. This task involves mainly interviewing people and writing about them, something Newell did thousands of times over four decade as a reporter, sports editor and news editor for newspapers in Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona, with the last 10 years at the Lake Oswego Review. His subjects included three giant roosters who showed up out of the blue at Lake View Village, a pot bellied pig who was a horse’s best, many more animals and countless human beings.
Prior to his journalistic wanderings, Newell was born in Pennsylvania, grew up in Phoenix and graduated from Arizona State University. His big interests are history, sports, reading great authors like P.G Wodehouse, and putting up with a bad black cat named Ripley. Newell already has a great affinity for the ACC because many of his stories for The Review came from there. This might be the most pleasurable task he has ever had as the blog reporter for the LOACC.
